Important student Chromebook exchange information for 8/17/20 & 8/18/20
9th graders who missed the August exchange dates can exchange their device at East High School on any make-up day:
- Tuesday, September 8, 8am-3pm
- Wednesday, September 9, 12-7pm
- Thursday, September 10, 12-7pm
- Friday, September 11, 8am-3pm
Our 9th graders are among the first to receive a new Chromebook for the upcoming school year.
It is extremely important that we receive each student's current Chromebook so that MMSD Tech Services can clean it, make any needed repairs and reconfigure it in order to give it to another student in time for the start of school.
East High School attendance area 9th graders (includes Shabazz and Capital High “Home Schools”)
Student Last Name A-K: Monday, August 17th, 2020 between 8:00am-3:00pm
Student Last Name L-Z: Tuesday, August 18th, 2020 between 8:00am-3:00pm
If you need to come on the day that doesn't correspond with the first letter of the student's last name, that's OK. This is our way of trying, to the greatest extent possible, to avoid long lines and wait times. We understand that it may not be possible for some families to come on these dates. We do hope that, if at all possible, you try your best to do so. We rely on this to ensure that all of our 27,000 students have a Chromebook on the first day of school. If a student's device isn't turned in on time, that means another student may not receive one in time.
Procedure for exchange:
Bring the student's current Chromebook and charger. Make sure to remove any stickers and wipe it clean (instructions here).
Display a letter size paper with the student's ID # on it in your car window
We will have staff in the parking lot to provide directions and answer questions
Stay in your car at all the times and wear a mask or other face covering
Staff will take the student's current Chromebook and charger and give you a new one
Once you are home:
Please check to make sure your new Chromebook works. If there are any issues with the new Chromebook, call the student tech support hotline right away: 608-204-5678.
If the student tech support helpline cannot fix the problem and recommends a replacement, return to the distribution center for an exchange.
