Upward Bound
Upward Bound
Program Overview
Upward Bound serves 120 East High School students each year. The program provides tutoring, academic advising, homework help, and ACT Prep and helps students research colleges and career paths, take students on field trips to visit the schools of interest, and visit campuses and professional job sites. In addition, Upward Bound offers a free on-campus residential summer program each year, where students live on a college campus, take classes, do community service, and participate in cultural excursions. Students can also earn academic and summer stipends for their participation. With the help of UB, our 2020 grads earned nearly 2 million dollars in grants and scholarships to attend the colleges of their dreams!
Eligibility
In order to be eligible for UB, you must qualify for free or reduced lunch and/or be the first in your family to earn a 4-year Bachelor’s Degree. We cannot accept current AVID participants, since those students are also receiving extensive college-prep support.
