ACT Testing

Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at East High School from 8:15am-2:00pm

This is a "Juniors Only" day and there will be no school for 9th, 10th, or 12th grade students.

All East High School 11th graders will have the opportunity to take the ACT on Tuesday, March 12th, 2024 FOR FREE! The test will be given in person at East High school from 8:15am to approximately 1:00-2:00pm.

Testing Information For Students

TESTING ROOMS

Testing room assignments will be emailed to students by Monday, March 11th.

ONLINE ACCOUNT REGISTRATION

Before students take the test, they must create an ACT account online beginning the week of February 19th. 

ARRIVING AT EAST

  • Students should arrive between 7:30-8:00am.  Students should proceed to their testing room between 8:00-8:15am and show their photo ID to the testing proctor. 

WHAT TO BRING AND WHAT TO NOT BRING

  • Bring your ID.

  • Bring #2 pencils and an eraser.

  • Bring a calculator.   View the ACT® Calculator Policy which provides a list of acceptable calculators.   (There will be extras available at East)

  • Absolutely NO CELL PHONES, SMART WATCHES, OR OTHER ELECTRONIC DEVICES ARE ALLOWED, EVEN DURING THE BREAK.  Students will be dismissed from testing and score will be voided if cell phones are seen or heard.  

FOOD

  • Free breakfast will be provided in the cafeteria beginning at 7:30am.  All food and beverage must be consumed in the cafeteria before going to testing rooms.  

  • A snack and a bottle of water will be provided during the 15 minute break after the 2nd test (between 10:00-11:00am). No food or drink is allowed in testing rooms.  Students must practice social distancing, in the hall, while on break.  

  • A free grab and go lunch will be provided to those with extended time accommodations.  

PROHIBITED BEHAVIOR

  • Looking ahead or back to other test sections

  • Using unauthorized calculator (click here for calculator info)

  • Technology of any kind, even on breaks

  • Disrupting others

  • Alarms, phone rings

  • Looking at others’ answers - CHEATING

DISMISSAL

The test will finish at approximately 1:00-2:00pm for standard time. Students with extended time accommodations, will finish by 3:35pm. 

TRANSPORTATION

  • Normal Madison Metro Bus routes to school will run in the morning.

  • Normal Madison Metro Bus routes will run at the normal dismissal time (3:39pm). Students should arrange for their own earlier transportation which may include researching bus routes to their home between 1:00-2:00pm. 

RESOURCES/TEST PREP

REMINDERS FOR STUDENTS

  • Get a good night's sleep and be sure to eat something substantial before the test. 

  • Go to the bathroom BEFORE the test. You won’t want to lose time during the test. 

  • Be calm and don’t stress!

  • A test score will never define you! 

  • Show up and do your best!

  • You can retake the ACT. 

MAKE-UP

Students who are absent for the March 12th ACT at East High School will be automatically registered to take the ACT Make-Up Test on Tuesday, April 9th from 8:15am-2:00pm at East High School in the Career Center (Rm 2335).
