Having trouble? Try these steps

1. Full Shut Down

Hold down the Power key until the screen turns off
Wait a minute and turn back on

2. Hard Reset

Press and hold Refresh + tap Power once
When your Chromebook starts up, let go of the Refresh button

3. Check for a Chrome Update

Click on the Clock
Click the settings gear
On the left, select About Chrome OS
Click on Check for Updates

4. Clear your Cache & Cookies

At the top-right in Chrome, click the dots
Click More tools > Clear browsing data
Click Clear data

If Your Chromebook is Charged, but Won't Turn On

Press and hold down Refresh
Tap the Power button 5 Times
Remove hands and count to 60
It will NOT turn on immediately

If you need more help

Email your LMTS with your name, your child's name and student ID number. Be sure to give them as much detail about your issue as you can.

Example: Is the device not turning on at all, or does your student not remember their password?

Meet Your Library Media Technology Specialist

Hello Purgolders! My name is Jen Milne-Carroll, and I am your Library Media Technology Specialist at Madison East High School. I am here to ensure that every student has the literacy, research, and technology tools to be successful during their time at East and beyond. I have a passion for diverse stories written by BIPOC authors, and for curating anti-racist resources and programming to allow for equitable student learning opportunities.

I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature with a certification in teaching, and a Masters of Science in Library Information Science from the University of Illinois at Champaign/Urbana. I have eight years of classroom experience teaching English, and ten years of experience serving as Library Media Technology Specialist in Madison schools.

When I am not at East High, you can find reading, drinking coffee, roaming around Madison with my three children and enjoying the outdoors.

I look forward to supporting you in the East Library Media Center!
